$1.5 Million Settlement - National Equipment Rental Company
December 2022
Our client was installing glass while standing on a scissor lift twelve feet from the ground. The scissor lift had a forty three inch unprotected opening between the top railing and the platform. While bending over to lift the glass, our client's foot slipped and they fell through the unprotected opening twelve feet to the concrete below. Our client sustained a severe traumatic injury and now requires 24-hour care for the rest of his life. We brought causes of action for products liability and negligence against the rental company and the manufacturer of the lift. The rental company filed two motions for summary judgment which were defeated by firm owner, Emily Ruby. The rental company settled for $1.5 million before trial started.
